PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
The American Handwriting
Foundation (AHAF) is an organization that provides
information and services to its members with the goal of enriching their effectiveness as
graphologists. The AHAF
Board wants to extend its reach of services to members by providing this site. At this
point in time (April, 1998) we are making our initial efforts to do this and plan to
improve our offerings as we gain experience and learn from our members about services they
would like.
With our Web site, we have seven powerful tools that were unthinkable
just 10 years ago. They are:
I. What does it mean to have unlimited data storage capability? It
means that in addition to documenting current activities we could have
all our Journal articles on line, as well as any new publications we
create. As we build archives for the future, we can slowly add back issues of the
Journal. We can also think about using the electronic media associated with our Web site
as our only long-term archive, rather than paying for storage of paper documents.
II. Easy updating: electronic media is outstanding for the ease that
things can be changed.
III. Through the use of e-mail and the Internet, communication between
AHAF officers and our members, both domestic and foreign is facilitated and brings us
closer. By using e-mail through our site, we essentially have an "800" number
that members anywhere in the world can use.
IV. By using a scanner, it is easy to capture pictures and other
graphic material -- such as handwriting samples -- for display on our
Web site. We can also post Chapter newsletters and any new publications
we develop.
V. Our Web site is an excellent way for us to tell interested
graphologists about our services and the advantages of membership. For all members
currently on the Internet, our Web site will provide a convenient way to capture and
respond to members' comments and to obtain a quick response to questionnaires. Easier
communication between AHAF's dispersed leadership is an advantage.
VI. Our Web site is a logical place where AHAF members can advertise
their services and products. By making AHAF's professional members visible to other
members, it is an ideal means to promote consulting activity between AHAF members.
VII. Members and non-members have access to local graphologists for speaking at
organizations or conferences. People can also find information about professional
graphologists for personnel screening, personality assessment, jury selection, questioned
documents, graphotherapy or other services.
